About Us

Background

The first chapter of MRCA originally started as a Bible study for single mothers at a Texas church that MRCA Founder T. Deanna Wilson attended. In this group, women were able to share concerns and stories, guidance and inspiration, in a safe and comfortable environment. This group provided the support Ms. Wilson needed to get her life back on track. Inspired by her experience with the group, renamed Mothers Raising Children Alone (MRCA) in 2004, Ms. Wilson incorporated MRCA in 2009. MRCA is based on the knowledge that God has a strategic plan for the lives of all of His children and offers guidance to single parents looking to build a better life for themselves and their families.

Looking Forward

MRCA looks forward to great expansion with the help of God in 2011! Some of our goals for this year and beyond include:

  • We intend to establish a chapter at each church with a population of single mothers looking for guidance and fellowship.
  • Through fundraising efforts, MRCA intends to establish a scholarship fund and award its first scholarship to a child raised by a single parent in May 2012.
  • MRCA hopes to minister to the needs of exotic dancers, women in shelters, an often neglected group of women.

Leadership

T. Deanna Wilson, MRCA Founder, was homeless with her children when God intervened, delivering her spiritually and providing the means for her to attend college so she could change her life. Wilson is now an educator working with students struggling with their education and a published author working on her second book.
